Paper against Cement

by Alberto Balletti and Marco Trentin

Galerija ŠTAB – Crnogorska 10 – Beograd

With the patronage of the 3rd International Printmaking Triennial of Beograd and of the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, Milan

Paper against Cement: a challenge to a wall of cement, a structure of signs being set up on the modern walls of an architectural fortress. To the intersection between the Danubio and the Sava, our sheets of paper arrangement to the bases of the arcs of the bridges.

Paper against Cement: the graphics that is able to combine, to connect, to tune proximities and distances that for a long time they ask us to be provoked for being motive for new visions.

Paper against Cement: to find an alliance between signs of project and signs of expression, inside a human sketch as sum of so many breaths.

Size Paper 100×70 Artist in Exhibition: Alberto Balletti, Ana Brumat, Giulia Gentilcore, Leonardo Marenghi, Giuseppe Pernigotti, Gianluca Rossitto, Alice Russo, Giuseppe Vigolo, Marco Trentin, Jue Wang, Vincenzo Zancana

The artists are from the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, Milan and of the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice: students, professors, printmakers and tutors: all artists working on print paper.

The artists exhibiting are Alberto Balletti, Ana Brumat, Giulia Gentilcore, Leonardo Marenghi, Giuseppe Pernigotti, Gianluca Rossitto, Alice Russo, Marco Trentin, Giuseppe Vigolo, Jue Wang and Vincenzo Zancana.

The artists’ works were chosen in order to have a visual impact, and establish a relationship with the distinctive strength of the Galerija Stab’s raw cement walls. We trust in the ancient history of paper resistance!

This research project develops under the skin of the paper and over the cement moulding, between the imprints of human images. Paper VS Cement crosses the boundary wall that further curbs its identity. Our etchings are an opportunity to build a new urban skyline, whilst our fragments recall the memory. Etchings as a structure for the memory and etchings that represent time shared. Etchings that visually narrate human history on an equal footing.

The characteristic of Paper VS Cement is the unit of measurement of fragments of printed narrative: the format 70X100 cm of the print papers.

Paper VS Cement

Gli artisti in mostra: Alberto Balletti, Ana Brumat, Giulia Gentilcore, Leonardo Marenghi, Giuseppe Pernigotti, Gianluca Rossitto, Alice Russo, Marco Trentin, Giuseppe Vigolo, Jue Wang e Vincenzo Zancana.
